- The entrance gate and roadside gate (peg 26) to Roughgrounds is to remain closed at all times, the combi lock code is in the handbook and on membership card. The last member to leave is to lock the gates on leaving. The gate at peg 38 is to remain permanently locked. The private house opposite the gate is to be respected at all times. the occupiers do not know the code.
- Vehicles are to be parked facing the hedge and not sideways on. The grass overspill area down to peg 15 is not to be used when the ground is wet.
- Please check the MAIN NOTICE BOARD is located centrally in the car park. Notices of matches, grass cutting, work parties, keepnet bans, rod rules, lake closure due to spawning, or flooding etc. will be displayed as required at the main entrance.
- One rod only to be used from 1st April to 31st October.
Two rods can be used (providing the angler is proficient) from 1st November to 31st March. If 2 rods are used they must be held in appropriate rod rests. Rods are not to be left and the angler is to remain within 3 meters at all times. unattended - All species: – Appropriate size unhooking mats/cradles to be placed behind the angler and not on the platforms. Landing nets to be 18 inch minimum must be used at all times. Unhooking from lap, providing angler is proficient, is acceptable.
- The use of keepnets will be decided by the committee and reviewed on a regular basis.
- The following is to be observed if keepnets are permitted. Keepnet rings are to be fully under water. Silver fish only (Bream, Tench, Roach etc.) can be placed in a keep net for a maximum of 5 hours, do not overcrowd your keep net, and use 2 nets if required. To eliminate disease Anglers are to ensure that their nets have been thoroughly dried before immersing in water.
- All Carp to be released after capture, unless under 5lbs during club matches.
- No barbed or semi barbed hooks to be used. Only BARBLESS hook for all species, maximum size 8.
- Hook lengths of lesser breaking strain than main line to be used.
- No fixed or semi fixed rigs of any kind, straight leads and all feeders to be free running. Lures are only to be used during the pike season.
- Fly fishing is not permitted.
- No Electronic bite alarms/surface baits inc bread/Braid – main line and hook lengths/Cat or dog meat/Boilies/ Nuts. – PVA bags and mesh bags are allowed.
- BOILIES hooked or for loose feeding are not allowed
- Wafters or pop ups up to 10mm in diameter can be used as hookbaits only.
- Anglers are only permitted to fish to half way to the next peg (This includes the opposite bank)
- Dogs to be kept on a lead and under control.Poo bags to be used and taken home.
- BRAID NOT TO BE USED OTHER THAN FOR PREDATOR (PIKE) FISHING.
- Road bank pathway pegs 26 to 38, to be kept clear at all times.Pole rollers are accepted.
- PIKE FISHING SEASON WILL BE OCTOBER 1st TOÂ MARCH 31st
- Pike fishing barbless hooks maximum size 6/ wire trace to be used.
- 50lb Braid only to be used for predator fishing.
- Bite indication for Pike fishing- Bobbin, monkey climber or float to be used
On no account must live or dead freshwater fish be brought to use on Roughgrounds Lake for pike fishing. Only NON freshwater species of fish may be used
HAC will run a series of 12 matches throughout the year for club members on Roughgrounds lake.
The match dates will be included in the members handbook and also displayed on the Notice Board.
Matches will run from 1000 to 1500 hrs and competitors are to arrive no later than 0830 hrs with the draw taking place at 0845 hrs. Pools of £10 are to be paid when requested by the match organiser. In addition a payment of £10 is to be made towards the aggregate if wishing to be part of this at the start of the season. Once the draw has been made late arrivals will not be catered for.
A LIMIT OF 24 ANGLERS WILL BE IMPOSED FOR EACH MATCH (OPTIMUM 20 TO 24)
- The match organiser will decide if conditions are deemed unsuitable or dangerous for fishing to commence and has the power to cancel the match at this discretion. These conditions include, flooding, low water levels, spawning, adverse weather etc.
- Competitors are to fish the peg they have drawn and may move one yard either side of the peg if required. A distance of half way to the peg either side is to be maintained and when competitors are drawn on opposite banks they are to fish a max of midway across the lake. A competitor must not interfere or cause annoyance to another angler.
- The match organiser is to be informed if a hazard, obstruction or damage to a platform has occurred making it unsuitable to fish from. In which case the closest alternative peg will be offered to the angler by the match organiser.
- Prior to the start of the match, breaking of water is allowed only for the following. Placing of keepnets, finding water depths/location for floats, location and distance for ledgering and the mixing of ground bait.
- Prior to the start of the competition , no competitor must in any way introduce ground bait or loose feed their swim.
- Each competitor must only have one rod, line or hook, live in the water at any given time during the competition. Assistance may be given if a situation arises that is detrimental to the welfare of a fish, in this case the fish is to be returned to the water and not weighed in.
- Environment Agency approved nets are only to be used and are to be laid out to dry on arrival at your peg. ALL NETS ARE TO BE DRY BEFORE THEY ENTER THE WATER AT ROUGHGROUNDS LAKE.
- CARP OVER 5lb to be weighed and witnessed by the closest angler then returned to the water immediately. Small carp up to 5lb can be kept in an EA approved Carp keep net. Max weight in net not to exceed 30lbs.
- All competitors to have an unhooking mat, which is to be used during weigh in.
- Balling in is not allowed. All ground bait is to be fed by cupping kit or feeder.
- Feeding via pole cup whilst fishing other methods is not allowed.
- On ‘all out’ anglers will be allowed 15 mins to land fish.
- Action required by the angler with carp over 5 lbs.
Ensure weigh sling is damp and scales are zeroes with weigh sling attached and witnessed. Remove hook from fish and transfer to weigh sling. Use carp mat to protect fish. Weight to be witnessed by the closest angler. Safely return the fish to the same peg to which it was caught. Record the weight of fish, name of angler and peg number on the form provided.
