The club popularity and membership has grown over the past few years and as such the club is reaching its limit of 500 members in accordance with our liability Insurance cover. Consequently, the club will no longer be taking new memberships for Roughgrounds Lake for the 2026/2027 season until further notice. This is effective as of now. River only membership for the river Thames is still available.

about us

River & Lake Fishing in Lechlade On Thames

Highworth Angling Club offers River and Lake Fishing based in the town of Lechlade On Thames. The club was founded in 1947 and had access to a number of waters in the area including Whelford and Horseshoe Lakes and stretches of the River Thames. In 1993, the club purchased Roughgrounds Lake in Lechlade and is now the clubs only still water venue. We control the River Thames from Buscot Weir, through Bloomers Field and St. Johns Lock all the way through Lechlade to the Roundhouse towards Inglesham.
